Special Plein Air Art Exhibition in Cottage #46 to Celebrate the CCA Art Council’s 10 Year Anniversary
Throughout October, the Crystal Cove Alliance Art Council will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary of promoting plein air art in Crystal Cove State Park with a special gallery exhibition and artists’ demo in Cottage #46!
Established to continue the 100+ year-old tradition of “En Plein Air” painting in Crystal Cove, the Art Council has grown from a small grass-roots effort to become a well-recognized group of art lovers and organizers working to engage local artists, produce art shows, teach beginning and intermediate courses, and organize special events and exhibitions. For Art Council Chair, Maggie Jamison, the experience of working with the council has been nothing short of remarkable.
“During the past 10 years, the Art Council has been made up of dedicated staff members and volunteers who established goals and crafted workable guidelines for a meaningful art program,” she says. “It has been my honor to work alongside the most gifted and generous group of people.”
Beginning on October 1st, a gallery exhibition showcasing Crystal Cove’s tradition of plein air painting will be on display in Cottage #46, including (reproductions of) six prominent works on loan from the Irvine Museum. On select days, some of CCA’s premier artists will also be doing a live demonstration.
As a special treat for all of Crystal Cove’s art lovers, the Fine Art Gallery and Interpretive Park Store will be offering 10% off all art pieces throughout the month of October. Be sure to swing by Cottage #46 this month to see the exhibition!
