Discover how art and conservation come together to address one of the most visible environmental challenges facing our coast: ocean plastics and marine debris. Presented as part of Creative Currents, this hands-on workshop is offered in partnership with Crystal Cove Conservancy and Laguna Outreach for Community Arts (LOCA) and explores how everyday actions can help protect our ocean and coastal ecosystems.

The workshop begins with a Crystal Cove Conservancy Conservation Biologist, who will share how plastic pollution and marine debris impact marine life, coastal habitats, and the health of our ocean. Participants will then work alongside LOCA teaching artist Liz McGee to create a nature-inspired artwork that transforms what they’ve learned into a creative expression of conservation and stewardship.

Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply looking for a meaningful way to connect with nature, Conservation Through Art offers an inspiring blend of science, creativity, and community. You’ll leave with your own artwork, a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our coastline, and simple ways you can help keep our beaches and ocean healthy.

All supplies will be provided. Class size is limited to 25 participants. Minimum age is 10.
