Lisa Levenson

Director of Programs

Lisa Levenson is the Director of Programs at Crystal Cove Conservancy, where she leads education, public programs, and conservation initiatives that connect people of all ages to the natural world. She and the Programs team design hands-on outdoor experiences that inspire environmental stewardship, build pathways into STEM and conservation careers, and ensure that diverse communities can access and care for Crystal Cove State Park.

With a background spanning anthropology, psychology, and zoology, Lisa has built a career at the intersection of education, science, and social justice. Before joining the Conservancy, she worked with the California Global Health Institute at UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis and the California Global Education Project at CSU Fullerton, developing K–College education and outreach programs that empowered students to engage with global issues.

Lisa is passionate about climate justice, environmental justice, and teaching for sustainable development. She advocates for these values through every program the Programs team designs—bringing equity and representation to the forefront of environmental education and conservation.

Outside of work, Lisa loves exploring the California coast, hiking local trails, and sharing her curiosity about the environment with her family.

Lisa's Cove Best:

Watching students’ ‘wow’ moments is my favorite thing. On an MPA Expedition, when dolphins surround the boat, students audibly gasp—you can see joy and a love for nature spark in real time. Many of these students have never been on the ocean or so close to wildlife
