Job Title: Marketing & Communications Intern

Status: Part-time Internship
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Location: Crystal Cove State Park, Newport Coast, CA

Position Summary
The MARCOM Intern assists with day-to-day marketing and communications activities. This role is designed for a college student or recent graduate who is creative, motivated, and eager to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and nonprofit communications. The intern helps tell the story of Crystal Cove Conservancy through compelling visuals, storytelling, and digital engagement.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Assist in writing and editing copy for newsletters, blog posts, and promotional materials.
- Create visual assets for social media, email campaigns, print materials, and events.
- Capture and edit photos and videos for marketing campaigns, programs, and events.
- Support the development, scheduling, and publishing of content across social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X.
- Help update website content and assist with email marketing campaigns.
- Assist in creating flyers, signage, and other digital/print collateral.
- Additional tasks and projects as assigned across the organization.
Skills
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and understanding of digital trends.
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
- Photography and videography skills (shooting and editing).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
- Enthusiasm for conservation, education, and nonprofit work.
Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate (Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or related field preferred, but not required).
- Experience with social media, photography, videography, and content creation preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not perform any supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
Due to the nature of the property and the role’s responsibilities, the MARCOM intern must be able to walk up to 100 meters on uneven terrain, climb stairs, stand for prolonged periods, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
This position is primarily outdoors, located throughout Crystal Cove State Park. Some weekend and evening work will be required.
Internship Details
Hours: Part-time (10-12 hours per week, flexible with class schedules).
