Explore the Cove Backcountry Ecology Hikes
Lace up your hiking boots and get ready to explore the wild side of Crystal Cove! Join expert science staff from the Conservancy on an intermediate 4.3-mile hike, with a few hundred feet of elevation gain, to learn about and experience the rare and unique plants, animals, ecology and geologic history of the Park and how they are being protected. Subjects include Fire Ecology, Ecological Restoration, Coastal Engineering and Marine Conservation, and the challenge of non-native species and their impact on native natural communities and ecosystems.
Crystal Cove State Park is in the heart of a globally important hotspot of biological diversity. Many of the plants, animals and habitats here are found nowhere else on earth.
