Crystal Cove Conservancy (The Conservancy) is the nonprofit dedicated to the protection, preservation and sustainability of Crystal Cove State Park, located on the traditional and unceded lands of the Acjachemen and Tongva Tribal Nations.

Crystal Cove Conservancy and California State Parks have worked together to develop innovative educational programs that engage K-12 students and community members, preserve historic beach cottages, conserve miles of precious California coastline, steward acres of threatened habitat and promote access for historically-excluded groups.

About the Position
The Facilities Assistant supports the safe, clean and reliable day‑to‑day operation of CCMC‑managed facilities within Crystal Cove State Park. This role focuses on routine maintenance, light repairs, inspections and upkeep tasks that support guest readiness, staff operations and overall facility condition.

The Facilities Assistant reports to the Facilities Manager, executing on clearly defined tasks, schedules and work orders. Success in this role comes from basic knowledge of the construction trades, consistency, attention to detail and follow‑through.

Schedule
This is a full-time position with some evening and weekend hours required as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $26 – $30 per hour. The Facilities Assistant is also eligible for the following benefits:

Essential Position Responsibilities
Daily Maintenance & Upkeep – Perform routine maintenance and light repairs across cottages, common areas, and operational facilities. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks as assigned. Support upkeep of grounds, walkways, shared spaces, and exterior areas.

Inspections & Work Orders – Conduct routine inspections and report issues promptly to the Facilities Manager. Complete assigned work orders accurately and on schedule. Document completed tasks, materials used and observations clearly and through strict adherence to process.

Safety & Readiness Support – Follow established safety procedures and use equipment and tools properly. Identify potential safety hazards and report concerns immediately. Support emergency response activities and post‑incident cleanup or follow‑up as directed.

Tools, Equipment & Vehicles – Use and care for tools, equipment and vehicles (including golf carts) responsibly. Report equipment issues, maintenance needs or supply shortages.

Team Support & Coordination – Work collaboratively with other facilities staff, cottage staff and operations team members. Support vendor activities on site by preparing areas, assisting with access and following instructions. Maintain a professional, service‑oriented presence in guest‑facing areas.

Key Relationships
• Reports to: Facilities Manager
• Works closely with: Cottages Manager, Senior Operations Manager, Maintenance and Facilities staff, vendors, State Parks staff, owners representative on construction project.
• Supports: Guest readiness, safety compliance and operational continuity

Qualifications
• At least 1 year of experience in facilities, maintenance, construction support, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions, schedules and safety procedures.
• Basic hand and power tool experience.
• Strong work ethic, dependability and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working outdoors and navigating historic and coastal environments in varied weather conditions.
