Kate Wheeler
President & CEO
Kate Wheeler is President & CEO of Crystal Cove Conservancy, the nonprofit partner of Crystal Cove State Park. She oversees the organization’s work to restore the historic cottages, expand hands-on STEM education programs, and steward the park’s natural and cultural resources in collaboration with California State Parks.
Before joining Crystal Cove in 2019, Kate led development efforts for the International Fund for Animal Welfare across the western United States and worked on cross-sector initiatives supporting education for vulnerable youth. She holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of San Diego and has taught at both USD and National University.
She lives in San Clemente with her spouse, two cats, and a dachshund. Her three grown children visit often.
