The Beachcomber Express Tent
Summer at Crystal Cove is here! As the heat starts to turn up on our beautiful little paradise, the throngs of excited beachgoers start arriving on our shores, ready to soak up every last ray of sun. The Cove offers so much in the way of fun activities, from playing in the sand to splashing about in the water. While visitors often bring everything they need for their day out, the Beachcomber at Crystal Cove offers a great solution to pick up items you might need for a fun day out.
Located in a white tent at the end of the Crystal Cove promenade resides the Beachcomber Express, your one stop beach needs facility. The tent is open every day of the week from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Beachcomber Express features beach rentals including beach chairs and umbrellas for $10 or less. But one of the most inquired about rentals is the portable fire pit-BBQ. While wood and charcoal fires are prohibited all across Crystal Cove State Park, the propane-powered BBQ Fire pit combo lets you still enjoy grilling on the sand after a fun filled day at the beach. The BBQs include a fire ring for roasting marshmallows or just sitting around the fire on the cool evenings at the Cove, and the entire unit can be easily moved on the sand. Rentals can be made at the stand or done online here. Pricing starts at $65 for a 2 hour rental, but other packages are available for purchase that include hamburgers and hotdogs, S’mores, beverages, and beach chairs. It’s a great way to make your time at the Cove even more special!
Now that we are in the summer season, the Beachcomber Express Menu is now up and running at the Express Tent from 11:00am to 5:00pm, every day until Labor Day. The Beachcomber offers one of the more unique dining experiences in the world, but if you want to beat the line and still pick up great food, the Express Menu has you covered. Offering typical beach favorites like cheeseburgers and hotdogs, the stand also sells other delicious items, such as a Mahi Mahi BLT or a turkey panini. Snacks and beverages of all kinds are for sale, such as sodas, chips, grilled yellow corn, and ice cream sandwiches. No alcohol is available from the Express Tent, and it should be noted that, per State Park rules, alcohol is not allowed anywhere on the beach.
