Powerful Partnerships

CCA’s partners are a powerful tool for protecting the Park for generations to come.

Tricia and Michael BernsDeveloping, managing, and sustaining effective partnerships is Crystal Cove Alliance’s most important tool for addressing its mission of restoration, education and conservation, and provides a new model for protecting parks. Together with its partners, CCA is able to offer visitors enhanced experiences ranging from learning on offshore boat programs, dining on the sand, staying in historic cottages or walking on pristine beaches. Leadership in today’s nonprofit environment is often measured by the nature and productivity of its partnership program. In this issue, we recognize and thank our generous partners. Here are just a few of the successful partnerships that help us meet our mission:

California State Parks: California State Parks and CCA make up one of the top public/private partnerships in the state and, in fact, represent the model; the careful combining of core competencies allows us, together, to function as a unit that can more effectively attack our common goal of preserving Crystal Cove for future generations.

Awakening at the Cove, an article from Laguna Beach Magazine.Firebrand Media: In 2013, CCA entered into a partnership with Laguna Beach-based Firebrand Media to produce a series of articles, exhibits and communication tools that highlight the hidden secrets of Crystal Cove. Media partnerships such as this one help CCA keep locals and stakeholders in the increasing complex conversation about conservation.

Beachcomber Cafe and Crystal Cove Shake Shack: Two of the most popular recreational spots in the park, The Beachcomber Cafe and Crystal Cove Shake Shack, are examples of a successful CCA concession relationship in which the two are partners in managing restoration, construction and operations. More than 150,000 visitors each year enjoy the dining facilities, with 12 percent of proceeds going back into preserving the Historic District.

Montage Laguna Beach and Pelican Hill Resort: CCA develops strong partnerships with nearby businesses that allow it to build successful programs and fundraising events. Montage Laguna Beach and Pelican Hill are just two of many partners that are key sponsors of the annual gala, providing food, servers and advice for putting on an elegant presentation for guests. With the help of these partners, CCA is able to raise valuable funds for future restoration and conservation efforts while delivering one of the best galas in town.

YOU as a partner: We thank all of our partners and invite YOU to become a partner too—when you join Crystal Cove Alliance, you’re a part of our community and can take advantage of special events and brand new benefits offered exclusively to members. On Sept. 1, CCA is launching a new membership program with new benefits including parking passes, hospitality services, exclusive discounts at the park and invitations for CCA’s Citizen Science Cruises. The benefits are priceless—but perhaps none are as great as becoming a partner in stewarding OC’s greatest coastal landmark. Become a member today!
