Laura Davick Wins Outstanding Founder Award!

ldawardtrophyOn November 17, Laura Davick, Founder and Vice President of Crystal Cove Alliance was honored as Outstanding Founder at the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon.  Orange County’s premier philanthropy awards luncheon was attended by more than nine hundred of Orange County’s top philanthropists, corporate CEOs, innovators, volunteers, and non-profit founders and executives at the Nation Grove in Anaheim.

As we know Laura Davick has one powerful story. Her parents met as tent campers at Crystal Cove in 1940, and in 1960, when Davick was a year old, they moved into Cottage #2, now known as the Shell Shack, to raise their family. Davick has truly dedicated her life to protecting and preserving Crystal Cove State Park and the Historic District so that future generations of families can also enjoy it. She founded Crystal Cove Alliance (CCA) in 1999 to stop a planned luxury resort, and the Alliance went on to become Crystal Cove State Park’s official nonprofit partner and lodging and food service concessionaire. CCA, through its subsidiary, Crystal Cove Beach Cottages, now manages the overnight cottage rentals in the Historic District.  Through her role as CCA Vice President, Davick remains focused on restoring the final 17 cottages and her leadership role in fundraising and innovative educational programming and conservation, which has led to one of the most successful public-private partnership models in California State Park history. Her passion, resilience, and persistence is what makes her such an Outstanding Founder and everyone that knows her, knows there’s no one quite like Laura Davick.

“I have been blessed with a life-long love affair with Crystal Cove. My experiences there as a child have impacted my life, my work and my philanthropy.  My desire to protect and preserve Crystal Cove for future generations to come just makes my heart sing and my life complete.” – Laura Davick

Congratulations, Laura!  We are all honored to be in your circle.
