DESCRIPTION:This event is canceled!\nWelcome to Crystal Cove Conservancy’s and Crystal Cove State Park’s Stewardship Event!\nCome help us on a habitat restoration project during Stewardship Saturday! This volunteer event is open to all and offers a hands-on way to connect with Crystal Cove’s natural beauty and history. \nParticipants will assist in activities to help advance ongoing restoration projects throughout the park. The day’s activities—such as site preparation\, weeding\, seeding\, and planting—will depend on site needs and the time of year. No experience is required! \nThe event is free\, and RSVPs are required. Register at the form below. \nEvent details: \n\nTime: 8:00am-11:30am\nRegistration is capped at 20 participants per day.\nRecommended for ages 16 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nWhat to bring: \n\nsunscreen\na hat\nsturdy closed-toed shoes\nlong pants\nlong sleeves (recommended)\ngloves if you have them (gloves will also be provided)\nsnacks and water in a reusable bottle\n\nPlease contact Jen at jennifer@crystalcove.org for any questions. \n\nEach event will take place at one of the two project sites below: \nThe Bowl: \n\nHike level: Medium\nBe prepared to walk about 30 minutes to the project site (~1.5 miles one way; ~3.0 miles round trip) on slightly uneven\, mostly flat terrain. However\, there is some elevation gain as you approach the site.\n\nCoastal Bluffs: \n\nHike level: Easy\nThis site is easily accessible from the parking lot and does not require any hiking.\n\nThe project site will be determined closer to the event date. \n\n\n \n\n \n\nLooking to host a private event? SUMMARY:Earth Day Beach Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join Crystal Cove State Park and Crystal Cove Conservancy for a meaningful morning giving back to the coast. This Earth Day Beach Cleanup invites volunteers to help remove debris from the shoreline\, bluff trails\, and parking areas\, supporting the health of this treasured ecosystem. \nSpend a few hours giving back to Mother Nature at our Earth Day beach cleanup. Volunteers needed to help clean the coastline\, bluff trail\, and parking lots.  We will have supplies available\, or bring your own recycled bag\, buckets\, gloves or other cleanup supplies to make this event as ZERO WASTE as possible. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by an adult. See the volunteer page at www.crystalcovestatepark.org. We will have waivers at the check in table. \nMeet at Pelican Point #4\, (PCH coastward at Newport Coast\, left at the kiosk to the last lot). Parking fee waived for event.

DESCRIPTION:Members Only Event: Learn how to access exclusive member events and programs today! \n \nKick off our Discovery 101 series with a guided introduction to birding at Crystal Cove State Park. \nLed by a local birding expert\, this small group experience begins with a brief\, beginner-friendly overview before heading out into the field to explore the Cove’s coastal habitats. \nWe’ll walk the scenic bluffs in search of native and migratory species\, learning how to identify birds by sight and sound while observing their behavior in real time. Along the way\, participants may encounter coastal sage scrub specialists and other seasonal visitors\, with the added bonus of sweeping ocean views. \nNo prior experience is needed. Whether you’re brand new to birding or looking to sharpen your skills\, this is a relaxed\, hands-on way to connect more deeply with the natural world. His work spans avian\, reptile\, and mammal species\, with a focus on special status wildlife such as the California gnatcatcher\, least Bell’s vireo\, southwestern willow flycatcher\, burrowing owl\, desert tortoise\, and arroyo toad. \nAdam regularly leads species specific surveys and monitoring efforts\, including nesting bird surveys\, pre construction clearance surveys\, and presence or absence studies. He also serves as a lead biologist on projects requiring environmental compliance\, implementing mitigation measures and ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. \nHis work extends to conservation lands and preserves\, where he applies science based survey techniques to support long term habitat management and protection.

DESCRIPTION:This guided interpretive hike explores Crystal Cove State Park’s sandy shoreline and coastal bluffs\, offering an up-close look at the plants\, animals\, and ecosystems that define our marine and coastal environment. Participants will walk along the beach and blufftop\, stopping to learn about native plant communities\, intertidal habitats\, coastal geology\, and the dynamic forces shaping the shoreline.  \nThe program highlights key conservation challenges such as sea-level rise\, habitat loss\, and the importance of Marine Protected Areas—focusing on the Crystal Cove State Marine Conservation Area. Blending ecology with conservation storytelling\, this hike fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Park’s coastal landscapes. Participants will learn about coastal sage scrub\, riparian corridors\, and the rare plant and animal species that make this region a biodiversity hotspot. \nGuided by Conservancy staff\, the group will discuss fire ecology\, restoration projects\, land-use history\, and ongoing efforts to protect and restore these fragile habitats.
