He also is President of RLF affiliated organizations\, Fund for a Better Future and Shared Ascent Fund. Avi Garbow is a nationally recognized environmental leader\, lawyer\, and advocate with decades of experience tackling many of the most critical threats to our air\, water\, lands\, and communities. He most recently served as Patagonia’s Environmental Advocate\, providing strategic leadership and vision to the company’s robust environmental advocacy efforts. Avi has held senior leadership positions in several Presidential administrations\, including serving as Senior Counselor to the EPA Administrator in the Biden Administration\, and as the Senate-confirmed General Counsel at EPA in the Obama Administration. He has also led the environmental practice of an international law firm\, and served as a federal environmental crimes prosecutor in the U.S. Department of Justice. Guests will enjoy an artist talk and Q&A with artists Maja Godlewska and Marek Ranis hearing how they brought Mare Liberum\, Reimagined to life\, along with a sunset reception.  \nOn display in Crystal Cove’s historic Cottage #46\, guests will be the first to explore the new multimedia installation by Godlewska and Ranis\, Mare Liberum\, Reimagined (2024). The work combines physical\, suspended elements and virtual reality components. Viewers explore the immersive installation by navigating a kelp forest maze of suspended paintings on mesh screen panels\, alluding to the tangled verticality of a kelp grove. Among the paintings hang several VR headsets presenting a series of films. SUMMARY:The Great Plein Air Experience 2025
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate over 100 years of plein air art at Crystal Cove State Park and spend a relaxing day capturing the beauty of the Cove on canvas with the help of a Crystal Cove plein air artist! No experience required; this introductory class is recommended for novices only. \nAll supplies will be provided! Class size is limited to 12. Minimum age is 16. Sign-up using the form below. Please note: a break will be provided for lunch\, but lunch is not provided. \nTime: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM\nInstructor: Debbie Morines\nLocation: Cottage #13 (The Beaches Cottage)\, Historic District\, Crystal Cove State Park\nWhat to Bring: Water\, sunscreen\, long sleeve shirt\, hat\, and stool or chair (optional)\nParking: Available in the Los Trancos Parking Lot. $15 Day Use fee per vehicle; free with State Parks annual pass\nPrice: $130 per workshop; $110 for Crystal Cove Conservancy members \nArt Class Cancellation Policy\nAny cancellation or transfer requests must be received by Crystal Cove Conservancy at least 72 hours before the start of the event.\nNo refunds or transfers will be issued for no-shows or for change requests received after this time.
